![]() ![]() The technical requirements of full-aperture TTL metering led to a new variation of the SR mount, the MC mount (for "meter coupling.") This system involved the same bayonet mount, but added a tab on the aperture ring to directly signal the aperture (relative to the maximum aperture) set on the lens. It offers not only TTL metering, but full-aperture metering, Full aperture metering in 35mm SLR cameras was pioneered by the brilliant Tokyo Kogaku Topcon RE Super, and would not appear in a screw mount camera until Olympus Kogaku introduced the Olympus FTL, their first full-frame 35mm SLR in 1971, which was abandoned one year later in favour of the OM system. However, the SR T 101 is a leap forward from the SR-7. The body is a direct continuation of the Minolta SR-7 model V of 1962, itself an innovative camera. Sales began in April 1966 and it stayed in production with only minor changes for ten years, the result of the thorough development effort that was put into the camera. Ltd, Japan, premiering in the March 1966 Japan Camera Show. Cool! It's my main film camera that I use quite regularly, and indeed, it's a weighty tank. The Minolta SR T 101 is a 35mm SLR camera made by Minolta Camera Co. My profile cover photo has a photo of my Fujica V2 rangefinder, which came out 4-5 years after the Minolta V2. I think it's also interesting to see that many of these Japanese camera brands label their camera models exactly or quite similarly. If you ever get your Minolta V2 going, I would be very interested to see a few photos shot with it. Once I finish a roll with the A5, I'll post a few shots on here, and the rest on my Lomography page. It wouldn't surprise me if the Minolta A5 (45mm f2) and Minolta V2 probably share the exact same lens. Also, yeah, the Minolta V2 has a 45mm f/2 lens. However, I've read in various places that the shutter in the Minolta V2 tends to have issues, and it may be one of the reasons why I see many defunct for sale. ![]() If I'm not mistaken, this camera was known to be able to shoot at 1/2000 at certain higher apertures. ![]()
